Memorial Day!!

Happy Memorial Day Everyone!

This weekend to me is the best weekend of the year. It's the un-official start of summer. The BASS are biting like crazy with the water warming up, NASCAR is in full swing, and I absolutely love picnics and parades.

But as we all know, or better know,  Memorial Day is a day of remembering our fallen and passed on heroes. Whether those heroes died in combat, or were fortunate to have made it home to live out their civilian lives, we remember them.

My grandfather served in WWII, and Korea. He made it home to his family twice. He was a lucky man in that respect. Unfortunatly he died a young man by today's standards(57), although he did raise a family of four and had six grandchildren when he passed. He also spent thirty years as a fireman in his hometown after returning from duty overseas. So, he never really lived a "civilian" life. He served his country in the Army, and served his local community for the rest of his life battling fires and saving lives.

 He was a hero.

So when you're sitting in that lawn chair today, drinking an ice cold beverage and enjoying a dog on the grill, or waving to one of your family members as they proudly march down your main street, remember, and thank the Lord for giving us those courageous people who put their lives on the line for us.

Till next time
